Ketogenic Diet
The ketogenic diet is an extremely strict diet used in the treatment of childhood epilepsy that can’t be controlled by other means.
It’s very high in fats, very low in carbohydrates, with limited calories and no sugar.
In some ways, the ketogenic diet is similar to the well-known Atkins diet, but much, much stricter. Some adults have tried Atkins or even the traditional diet as a way of reducing seizures. Unfortunately, not much research has been done on use of either diet in adults with epilepsy, but it may, if your doctor agrees, be worth a try.
